April 28, 2008 - As a farmer in North Central Illinois, I feel it is imperative that I respond to the most recent deluge of negative media attention, and letters to newspapers, attacking ethanol.  We must look past the fear mongering rhetoric that is being distributed by the big oil companies and the multinational food processors.

American Corn Growers Team Up with MIT Motorsports for Fourth Year

American Corn Growers Oppose Erosion of Renewable Fuel Standards

WASHINGTON, June 23, 2008 – In a letter to Stephen L. Johnson, Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA) stated their adamant opposition to the request by Texas Governor Rick Perry for a waiver of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

ACGA: US Economy Now Depends on Strength in Farm Sector

WASHINGTON, March 17, 2008 – Keith Dittrich, Chairman of the Board of the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA), in a recent letter to the Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke, warned that elimination of the ethanol tariff would be counter productive to the health of the U.S. rural economy and crippling to the farm sector.  Dittrich explained that lifting the tariff would have several compounding impacts that would be detrimental to efforts to revive the U.S. economy and would be shortsighted in many ways if this action were taken, given that the U.S. is the price leader in basic commodities.

Corn Growers Reaffirm Suggestions to Farm Bill Conferees

WASHINGTON  March 11, 2008 –Keith Bolin, President of the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA), reaffirmed his organization’s suggestion to the farm bill conferees following the recent release of the Food and Agriculture Policy Research Institute’s (FAPRI) baseline briefing book.  “According to FAPRI’s projections, market prices paid to farmers will be very strong for the next ten years,” said Bolin.  “We strongly recommend that the House and Senate farm bill conferees establish Marketing Assistance Loan (MAL) rates just below the projected prices in order to provide the maximum safetynet at the smallest cost for the pending farm bill.”

Free Trade Makes Us Slaves

March 1, 2008 Today, Friday morning, gold is at a record price of $975 per ounce, while the U.S. dollar is at an all time low to the Euro of $1.52 to 1 Euro and one British pound equals almost two U.S. dollars. This is great for our exports to Europe and Asia, yet we still run a trade deficit monthly of almost $60 billion per month or almost $2 billion per day.

Improved Federal Oversight For GE Corn Needed

WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2008-- Keith Dittrich, Chairman of the American Corn Grower Association’s Board of Directors today voiced his concerns with inadequate federal oversight in the wake of last week’s announcement by USDA that an unregistered genetically engineered (GE) pesticide product known as a “plant-incorporated protectant” (PIP) was planted on approximately 53,000 acres of corn in 2007. ACGA has worked to raise the concerns of consumers and the world export market since GE corn was introduced in the mid 1990s.

Corn Growers Make Suggestions to Farm Bill Conferees

WASHINGTON, Feb. 22, 2008 – In a letter to the farm bill conferees this week, Keith Bolin, President of the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA) made a few suggestions as to his organization’s preferences on a few key points of the pending farm bill. “We understand the political and budgetary climate in which you are currently engulfed and we offer these recommendations and suggestions in an attempt to help, not hinder you,” wrote Bolin.

Corn Growers Meet with Bush Administration on Ozone Regulations

ACGA Sees Bush Budget as a Mixed Bag

Washington, Feb 6, 2008 - Keith Bolin, President of the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA) announced that his organization’s membership was pleased that President Bush decided not to propose the elimination of the ethanol import tariff in his recently announced 2009 federal budget proposal.  “We see the decision to continue the ethanol import tariff as a positive move by the President,” said Bolin.
