Corn Growers Welcome Permanent Law

Washington, Feb 4, 2008 - Keith Bolin, President of the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA) announced that his organization’s membership would welcome implementation of permanent farm law over an extension of the 2002 farm bill, but would prefer retention of many of the gains made in the final bills passed by the U.S. Senate this past December and the U.S. House passed last summer.

Bolin Appeals to President Bush to Allow Inclusion of PTC in Stimulus Plan

WASHINGTON – Jan. 31, 2008 – The American Corn Growers Association (ACGA), the nation’s first and leading commodity organization in the advocacy, promotion and development of wind generated power, commended Senators Max Baucus, D-Mont., Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, the committee’s senior minority member, for including an extension of the Production Tax Credit (PTC) for wind-generated electricity as part of the pending economic stimulus package.

NFO President Addresses American Corn Growers Meeting

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 19, 2008--- Speaking at the American Corn Growers Association’s (ACGA) twenty-first anniversary convention in Milwaukee on Jan. 19, National Farmers Organization (NFO) President Paul Olson of Taylor, Wis., painted a positive picture for agriculture in the years ahead, and offered solutions for the challenges family farmers face in today’s volatile ag markets.

Olson declared that every sector of NFO’s operations were reporting solid growth in their work to advance the economic power of farm families.

Ethanol Pioneer and Author Holds Workshop for Corn Farmers

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 18, 2008--- Renowned ethanol pioneer and author Dave Blume presented a renewable fuels workshop at ACGA’s twenty-first anniversary convention in Milwaukee on Jan. 18, 2008.  Blume has been working on ethanol production since the early 1970s and released a new book Alcohol Can Be a Gas last summer.

Corn Grower President Praises House Passage of Energy Bill

WASHINGTON, Dec. 7, 2007 – American Corn Growers Association President Keith Bolin, a corn and livestock producer in Bureau County, Ill., praised this week’s passage of sweeping energy legislation by the U.S. House of Representatives.

“As farmers we are excited that we are once again being called upon to help the nation move toward energy independence,” declared Bolin.

American Corn Growers Say Stay the Course on CRP

WASHINGTON, Sept.25, 2007 – Keith Bolin, President of the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA), says his organization is opposed to any actions by USDA to allow an early exit from the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). “USDA should stay the course on the CRP,” said Bolin. “Recent discussions coming out of the Department of Agriculture suggesting an administrative action to allow farmers to exit the program early is short-sighted and ill-advised.”

Report of Price Manipulation by Railroads Reason Enough for New Legislation

WASHINGTON – Sept. 17, 2007 – Keith Dittrich, Chairman of the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA) Board of Directors, renewed support by his organization for the Railroad Competition and Service Improvement Act of 2007 (H.R. 2125/S. 953) in light of recent reports that five major freight rail companies overcharged customers by more than $6.5 billion under the guise of fuel surcharges.
